My Deal
I’m a 26-year-old living in Portland, Oregon. I spent the first 18 years of my life in Montana, and although I’ve been in Portland for over 8 years, Montana will always be home. In fact, if it weren’t for cheaper car insurance rates or kicker checks, I probably never would have registered my car in Oregon or started paying Oregon taxes.
After college, I worked as a corporate event planner for a couple years before moving into the nonprofit sector. Nearly two years later, I still marvel occasionally at the stark contrasts between The Company I worked for and The Foundation that currently employs me. I know nonprofits aren’t for everyone, but it was definitely a good move for me.
I spend my free time sampling the amazing microbrews Oregon has to offer, wandering around farmer’s markets, going out to brunch and visiting my boyfriend in Eastern Oregon. I love gourmet coffee, flip flops, craft projects and a good bargain.
Sometimes, I tell funny stories. Other times, interesting/bizarre/funny things happen to me. I wanted a place (a sort of “web log”, if you will) to record all of this ridiculousness so that I could look back on it later and laugh. Because I have a tendency to forget stuff. A lot.
More things about me:
1. I quote movies and TV shows all the time. You pretty much have to be familiar with Mean Girls, SuperTroopers, 30 Rock, and The Office to hang out with me.
2. I love music. Any time of day, no matter what I’m doing, I have music on. I like all of it, too. Even the stuff most people exclude, like Rap, Country, and Showtunes. You name it, I like it.
3. Things I think I excel at include (but are not limited to): spelling, remembering phone numbers, math, listening, text messaging, and falling asleep just about anywhere. Things I would include in my list of weaknesses: writing, voice immodulation, calling my friends who don’t live in Portland, and eating leftovers.
4. I am bothered (some may say unreasonably) by the color brown, people who abbreviate too much or too little, the word “moist”, oversharers, Caffeine-free Diet Coke, and fake laughter. Oh, and places that don’t have both food AND drink specials during happy hour.
5. I believe that an unnecessary amount of my brain space is taken up remembering phone numbers and song lyrics that are completely useless. I can remember the first time I met every single one of my friends (sometimes down to the detail… like what color shirt they were wearing or what exactly they said to me EIGHT YEARS AGO) but I can’t tell you what I had for breakfast this morning.
6. Friends and family, ice cream, and flowers make my world go round. They can make anything better.
